Your journey begins with a drive to the Cultural Triangle. Arrive in Anuradhapura, the first capital of ancient Lanka. Spend the afternoon exploring this UNESCO World Heritage site, home to colossal stupas like Ruwanwelisaya and the sacred Sri Maha Bodhi tree, the oldest living human-planted tree in the world.
Travel north along the historic A9 highway to the vibrant peninsula of Jaffna. Watch the landscape change to palmyrah palms and lagoon vistas. Check into your hotel and spend the evening witnessing a puja ceremony at the majestic golden Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, the spiritual heart of the north.
A full day to explore Jaffna. Visit the star-shaped Jaffna Fort and the iconic Jaffna Public Library. You may also take a boat ride to Nagadeepa (Nainativu) Island to visit its historic Buddhist and Hindu temples, or simply explore the local markets known for their unique cuisine and mangoes.
Drive southeast towards the stunning east coast city of Trincomalee. This port city has one of the world's largest natural harbors. In the evening, visit the Koneswaram Temple (Temple of a Thousand Pillars) located inside Fort Frederick, offering dramatic views over the Indian Ocean from "Lover's Leap."
A day of leisure. Relax on the white sands of Nilaveli or Uppuveli beach. In the morning, you can take an optional boat trip to Pigeon Island National Park for world-class snorkeling with reef sharks and turtles, or go whale watching (seasonal).
Continue your coastal journey south to Passikudah. This area is famous for having one of the longest stretches of shallow reef coastline in the world. Check into your luxury beach resort and unwind.
A full day at leisure. The sea here is exceptionally calm and shallow, allowing you to walk hundreds of meters into the water. It is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports like jet skiing or windsurfing.
Leave the coast and head inland to the Cultural Triangle. In the afternoon, you will arrive in Sigiriya. You can choose to relax or take a village tour to experience traditional Sri Lankan rural life, including a catamaran ride on a village lake.
An early morning start to beat the heat as you climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Admire the ancient "Cloud Maiden" frescoes, the Mirror Wall, and the breathtaking 360-degree views from the summit of this ancient rock palace.
Drive south to the central highlands. En route, stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple, filled with hundreds of Buddha statues. Arrive in Kandy, the last royal capital. In the evening, visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic and enjoy a cultural dance performance.
After breakfast, visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya or the Bahirawakanda Buddha statue for a view over Kandy city. Then, proceed to Colombo. Enjoy a city tour visiting Independence Square, the Old Parliament, and the Pettah markets.
Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel. Your guide will transfer you to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure flight, marking the end of a grand loop around the island.
