Ayubowan! Your specialized nature guide will meet you at the airport. Transfer to your hotel in Negombo. In the late afternoon, take a boat tour of the Muthurajawela Wetland Sanctuary.
After breakfast, drive to the Dry Zone of Sigiriya. The habitat changes from coastal to dry forest. In the afternoon, birding around the Sigiriya sanctuary and moat areas.
A full morning of birding in the forests surrounding Sigiriya and Pidurangala. The mixture of tank (lake) and forest habitats makes for a high species count.
Proceed to Kandy. Visit the Udawattakele Sanctuary, a historic forest reserve behind the Temple of the Tooth. This tall canopy forest is excellent for mid-country species.
Drive up into the cool central highlands (2,000m above sea level). Stop at Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya, a famous wintering ground for Himalayan migrants.
Descend from the hills to the deep south coast. Drive to Bundala National Park, Sri Lanka's first Ramsar wetland site. This is the most important wintering ground for migratory waterbirds in the country.
Drive inland to the Sinharaja Forest Reserve, the last viable area of primary tropical rainforest in the country. This is the "Holy Grail" for Sri Lankan birding.
Enjoy a final morning trekking session in Sinharaja to spot any endemics missed the previous day (perhaps the Serendib Scops Owl). Then, drive to the coast at Bentota for relaxation. You can take a boat ride on the Madu River to see mangrove species.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast by the beach. Depending on your flight time, transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) for your departure.
